Tower Hamlets Weavers 2021 by-election candidates
Six people put on their hats in the ring to be elected to Tower Hamlets council in the Weavers Quarter of Bethnal Green by-election.
The August 12 polls follow the sudden death of John Pierce of Labor on June 10, who was found in his Bethnal Green apartment nine days after his 40th birthday.
The Labor Party, which controls the council, is being challenged by former mayor Lutfur Rahman’s Aspire party as well as offers from the Tories, Liberal Democrats, Greens and the Labor and Socialist coalition.
Five applicants live in the East End, while one is from Redbridge.
Nasrin Khan is fighting for Labor, listing only Tower Hamlets as an address, proposed by Tower Hamlets Labor Party Secretary Graham Taylor and Lee Griffiths.
Aspire proposes Kabir Ahmed from Redbridge, proposed by Faruk Uddin and Muhammed Miah.

The Tories, who currently have two advisers, proposed Elliott Weaver from Old Ford Road to Bethnal Green, proposed by former Amnesty International UK chief Linda Wilkinson and traffic ban activist Carol Budd.
The Labor and Socialist Coalition proposes Hugo Pierre from rue Cephas in the Mile End, proposed by Helen Granger and Jane Pehlivan.
The Liberal Democrats line up Emanuel Andjelic, address given as Tower Hamlets, proposed by Edward Long and Daniel Clatworthy.
The Greens have Nathalie Bienfait, address like Tower Hamlets, proposed by Tatyana Guttmann Hancocks and Benjamin Hancocks.
