family and friends day
“May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord grant you grace, mercy and peace. » 2 Timothy 2
Grace is what our holy God gives that we, as sinners, do not deserve. Mercy is what God holds we deserve. (The hurt we deserve for our sinful ways.) He gives us time and help to return to him. Peace is what God brings to his people. Even in our worst times, we have inner peace because our God is in control. We can be encouraged that throughout our lives the Lord will give us the grace, mercy, and peace we need to live for Him.
We are in continuous intercessory prayer for all the sick and confined everywhere, and for our country. On Sunday, September 25, Courtney Derricks delivered his first public sermon, as he shared his response to God’s call on his life in the ministry hood. It was held at Soul City Church in Jackson, MS, where Scott Fortenberry is the pastor. Many family members and friends were there to support and show their love. Her father, Reverend Christopher Derricks, pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church in Sylvarena, MS, was honored to entrust Minister Courtney Derricks with the spiritual charge of his ordained path. Courtney is my nephew and I am thrilled with the way God has for this young pastor! God’s grace is immeasurable, his inexhaustible mercy, his inexpressible peace.
