TBS Awards $ 25,000 to four big winners of TBS HBCU Cash Out
A total of $ 100,000 was awarded to recent graduates of historically black colleges and universities for TBS’s first-ever interactive social media competition
LOS ANGELES – April 6, 2021 – following Lance Gross and Keshia Knight Pulliam’s exclusive revelation on “GMA 3: what you need to know“today, TBS is delighted to announce the winners of four grand prizes of $ 25,000. Impressed by the many innovative and thoughtful contributions, as well as the critical need to help black Americans alleviate student loans, TBS increased the number of recipients of three grand prizes from $ 25,000 to four, for a total of $ 100,000.
Throughout Black History Month, TBS and ambassadors Gross (“Star”, “MacGyver”) and Knight Pulliam (“The Cosby Show”, “House of Payne”), set out to financially empower recent graduates of historically black colleges and universities with its first-ever TBS HBCU Cash Out ™ social media contests. From February 8 to March 8, attendees creatively shared a 60-second video via Instagram, Twitter or YouTube on how attending an HBCU helps them achieve their goals.
According to the US Department of Education White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans, “Black college graduates have almost $ 25,000 more debt for student loans: an average of $ 52,726 in student debt, compared to $ 28,006 for the typical white bachelor’s degree.
The very first of this year TBS HBCU Cash Out ™ the winners are:
- Emani nichols: Atlanta-based video director and multimedia reporter in Historically Black Newspaper and 2020 Morehouse College graduated with a bachelor’s degree in African studies.
- Kevin Perry: A consultant for a global accounting firm based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and a graduate of Delaware State UniversityHolder of a bachelor’s degree in accounting (2018) and an MBA in data analysis (2019).
