Michigan man killed by machete-wielding suspect in search of prescription drugs
PONTIAC, MI – A 27-year-old man died and a 59-year-old man was injured after a third man allegedly attacked them with a machete, according to Fox 2 Detroit. A 51-year-old man was arrested and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment after he allegedly attacked the men at a house on Oliver Street in Pontiac.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office was called home around 5 a.m. Tuesday after one of the victims and a witness escaped from the home after the attack. Police say the 59-year-old alleges the suspect came to the house to purchase prescription drugs. When the suspect could not get the drugs he wanted, he attacked the two men with a machete.
A witness to the attack said the suspect attempted to get them to grab a steak knife and fight it as well, but the witness was not physically involved.
The 27-year-old man was found in a pool of blood inside the house and was already dead when the police arrived. The other victim suffered a head injury and was treated.
Police eventually caught the suspect after following a trail of blood from the house where the attack took place. The suspect was found unconscious in the yard of a nearby house on Marquette Street from a suspected overdose. Police took the suspect to hospital, where he is still being held.
