Michael Reynolds obituary (1953 – 2021) – Waukee, IA
Michael Keith Reynolds, 68, in Waukee, died on November 13, 2021 at his home.
Michael Reynolds, the son of Edward Eugene and Francis Helen (Kemling) Reynolds, was born March 14, 1953 in Atlantic. Mick “Bucket” Reynolds attended school in Griswold. Mick then moved to Colorado, where he worked on a dairy farm for a short time before working for an oil drilling company. Mick returned to Griswold in 1989 and that’s when he started dating LuAnn Conrad Ruhl. He started working for a construction company, then went to work for a water well company in Slater. Mick bought his own platform, named “Frank”, from the company and paid for it by continuing to work for them. In the early 90s, Mick and LuAnn launched Reynold’s Drilling. Mick drilled water wells and then did geothermal work.
On February 21, 1995, he married LuAnn Conrad Ruhl. Mick continued his activity until his accident on July 27, 2020. He and LuAnn moved to Waukee and spent time between Waukee and their home near Grant.
Mick enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s events and spending time with his family. Mick took great pride in his work ethic and was known as a “one man show” in the well drilling community, outdoing other teams on his own. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker with his grandchildren and sons-in-law, and with his friends at Attivo Trail, gardening and his pets. Mick and LuAnn took many vacations. One of his favorite things to do was drive. He would drive anywhere for himself or for someone who asked for him. He loved to go to pick up a vehicle he had bought in another state. Mick loved to rebuild vehicles. Mick and LuAnn were so grateful for the kindness shown to everyone at Attivo Trail when they moved to Waukee.
Mick is predeceased by his parents; his brother Ronnie; and his niece, Beth Towne.
He is survived by his wife, LuAnn Reynolds of Grant; her daughters, Brandi Feltner and her husband Cory of Griswold, and Meagan Froehlich and her husband Bill of Waukee; his grandchildren, Taber Feltner of Iowa City, Tosh Feltner of Griswold, and Lilly and Callen Froehlich, both of Waukee; his siblings, Max Reynolds and his wife Linda of Red Oak, Cheryl Towne and her husband Orlo of Griswold, Jim Reynolds and his wife Jo Beth of Griswold, and Donna Casey and her husband Greg of Griswold; his sister-in-law, Linda Herington; his brother-in-law, Chris Conrad and his wife Linda; her beloved dog, Teddy; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Tour will take place on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Griswold Community Building. Interment will take place in Grant Cemetery at a later date. Memorials will be rendered to the Red Oak, Grant and Elliott fire departments.
