Michael Keaton, who returns as Batman after nearly 30 years for the next film The flash, reports that his costume is still exactly what it has been since hanging up his cape. Playing the Caped Crusader in the 1989 Tim Burton film Batman and its sequel 1992 sequel Batman Returns, Keaton hasn’t touched the character since. Now, before his appearance in the new DCEU movie, Keaton talked with Stephen Colbert about what it feels like to get dressed again.

During the interview, Colbert jokingly asked Keaton if costume designers should “let out” his Batman costume a little after three decades. The answer? A categorical no. The actor described his physique as “slimmer than ever” and noted that the Batman costume he wears Flash has the “same dimensions” and the “same fit”.

Keaton also pointed out how great it was to be able to represent the Caped Crusader one last time. “I don’t know how many there are, like 77 Batman. They think they should form their own union, ”he laughed.

While Keaton took an extended hiatus from the role of Batman, it’s still a part of his life. Her Oscar nominated performance in 2014 Bird man or (The unexpected virtue of ignorance) had a meta element, crossing the legacy of the fictional actor playing a famous superhero role. On the Marvel side, Keaton portrayed Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, a character he will cover in the Sony Spider-Man Universe movie Morbius with Jared Leto.

Flash, which is directed by Andy Muschietti, will star Ezra Miller as the fast-paced superhero. Along with Keaton’s Batman, Ben Affleck will also be returning in his version of Bruce Wayne as part of a multiverse crossover. The film is set to arrive in theaters on November 4, 2022.
