Loose Women star Kaye Adams reveals she’s a real life Bridget Jones

Presenter Kaye Adams has revealed her life mirrored that of Bridget Jones in her early years.
The Loose Women star is hosting a virtual party with book author Helen Fielding to raise funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity, which marks the 25th anniversary of the chardonnay-swilling heroine.
From chunky pants to endless calorie counting, Bridget struck a chord with women across the country when she came into our lives in 1996.
And Kaye, 58, admits that she and Bridget have often had parallel lives, even enduring her own version of Bridget’s fire pole scene.

The BBC Radio Scotland host said: âWhen I arrived at STV one of the first jobs was to cover a charity reminder on the side of the Doubletree Hilton on Cambridge Street in Glasgow.
âThey wanted one of us to try and desperately to impress and keep my job, I naively volunteered. Big mistake.
âI went out with a harness and missed my foot. I closed like a pair of scissors, so my butt was hanging loose and my toes were touching my nose. It was terrifying.
âI must have come up without elegance, knowing that the photographers were taking pictures of my ***.
“Flip-flops were all the rage at the time. I would have liked to wear a pair of Bridget’s tall panties. It would have been a lot more comfortable.”

The comparisons and relatability didn’t end there.
She added, âWe were the same age, both unlucky in love and the two young women trying to establish ourselves as general reporters and getting all the silly stories that no one else wanted to touch.
âMy first job was on central television and I was on a children’s news show. The star of the show was a large Irish wolfdog named Oscar.
“I was sent on all kinds of ridiculous stories back then, so I was Bridget Jones. Like her, I felt like I would never be taken seriously.”
The mother-of-two worried about her weight and admitted that chunky pants were a factor in her life as well.
She said: âLike her, I kept a daily diary of my calorie intake although I drew the line by recording the amount of wine I had drunk and unlike her I was not a smoker. also wore my fair share of chunky pants. “

Kaye can’t wait to host the Beatson Blether with Helen next Friday. She said: âI’ve never interviewed Helen before and it’s a real blow to the Beatson to have her. I can’t wait to ask her if she has a book planned on postmenopausal Bridget Jones, because it is the scene her and all her. fans will be now.
“It will be a spectacular evening with an act of tribute to Rod Stewart and a raffle. Beatson, like all charities, has had a very difficult time and needs our help more than ever.”
