Kristen Stewart offside? No lead actress has ever won an Oscar without a SAG nomination | Rewards today

By Simone Fabriziani
When the nominations for the 28th Screen Actors Guild Awardsmajor film and television awards presented annually by the Hollywood Actors Union (SAG), one of the most shocking exclusions from his five-year membership was that of Kristen Stewart to Spencer.
The American actress, as Princess Diana of Wales, had already received key Golden Globe Drama and Critics’ Choice Awards nominations, but lost her first statuette to Nicole Kidman in Being the Ricardos, currently the presumed favorite. A decidedly enormous obstacle from a statistical point of view for Kristen Stewart, given that since the institution of the actor’s union award, no actress in a lead role has ever subsequently won an Oscar without a corresponding SAG nomination:
 Jessica Lange – Blue Sky
Susan Sarandon – A Walking Dead Man
 Frances McDormand – Fargo
Helen Hunt – Something Has Changed
Gwyneth Paltrow – Shakespeare in love
Hilary Swank – Boys Don’t Cry
 Julia Roberts – Erin Brokovitch
Halle Berry – The Monsters’ Ball
 Nicole Kidman – The Hours
 Charlize Theron – Monster
Hilary Swank – Million Dollar Baby
Reese Witherspoon – Walk the Line
 Helen Mirren – The Queen
Marion Cotillard – La vie en rose
 Kate Winslet – The Reader
Sandra Bullock – The Blind Side
Natalie Portman – The Black Swan
Meryl Streep – The Iron Lady
Jennifer Lawrence – The Bright Side
 Cate Blanchett – Blue Jasmine
 Julianne Moore – Always Alice
 Brie Larson – Chamber
Emma Stone – La La Land
Frances McDormand – Three Billboards in Ebbing, Missouri
 Olivia Colman – The favorite
 Renée Zellweger – Judy
 Frances McDormand – Nomadland
Since the inception of the SAG Award in 1994, none of the actresses listed has won an Oscar without being nominated for the Screen Actors Guil Award. In short, for the main performer of the biographical film directed by Pablo Larraìn, things look bad from a purely statistical point of view. Not to mention that at the time of writing, Kristen Stewart still hasn’t received the Bafta and Oscar nominations themselves, which will be revealed on Thursday February 3 and Tuesday February 8 respectively.
