Jason Momoa joins Vin Diesel in ‘Fast and Furious 10’

January 30 (Variety) — “Aquaman” star Jason Momoa has been officially initiated into the “Fast” family.

Variety has learned that Momoa will star alongside Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and the “Fast and Furious” crew in the upcoming 10th installment of the high-octane franchise.

The team officially welcomed Momoa to the team via social media on Friday night, with a post titled “The Fast Fam just keeps getting bigger.”

Directed by Justin Lin, the film is tentatively titled ‘Fast and Furious 10’, with the entire cast set to return, including Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Sung Kang and Charlize Theron, whose villainous Cipher dominated the films. since 2017’s “Fate of the Furious.” The film is set to hit theaters on May 19, 2023.

After directing the series’ third through sixth episodes, Lin returned to the franchise to direct “F9: The Fast Saga,” which opened last summer. The film has grossed $726 million worldwide, although its release was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The next film is set to be the penultimate outing from Toretto and his team, which is set to end with the 10th and 11th films.

Momoa would be the latest superstar to join the “Fast” franchise, which has been revving its engines since 2001. Over the years, action films have brought in big names to complete the ensemble, including Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Luke Evans. , Kurt Russell, Helen Mirren and John Cena, who starred in “F9” as Mia (Jordana Brewster) and Dom’s long-lost brother, Jakob Toretto. Before becoming Wonder Woman, Momoa’s “Justice League” co-star Gal Gadot starred in three of the “Fast” films, starting with “Fast & Furious” in 2009.

Meanwhile, the rest of the “Fast” family picks up speed. While promoting “F9,” Diesel and Lin teased where the franchise will go next as they race to the finish line of this story. Lin told Variety that he and Diesel have been planning future storylines for years.

“We have talked a lot about Mrs. Toretto, since the very beginning of [me] come back for ‘F9’,” the filmmaker admitted. “So I feel like there will be a time and a place to be able to reveal that.”
