Is the Tooth Fairy of Iowa less generous than other State Fairies?
Do you remember the childhood euphoria of going to bed, a recently lost tooth under your pillow, knowing you would wake up with money instead? Apparently the Tooth Fairy is feeling a bit more generous this year in other parts of the United States. The Iowan tooth fairies are a little soft. At least according to a new study. Don’t tell your kids – or, uh, ask the Tooth Fairy to improve her game.
The tooth fairy tightened her magic wand
Delta Dental Insurance Company has what’s called the “Tooth Fairy Index,” which tracks how much the Tooth Fairy leaves for a tooth. For last year, the start of a new decade, the average payment jumped from 33 cents to over four dollars per tooth. The national average now stands at $ 4.03, up from $ 3.70 last year. But that’s still below the all-time high of over $ 4.50 in 2017.
I was lucky enough to have a dollar bill let alone three or more!
Children in the Northeast currently receive the biggest payouts, at $ 4.35 on average. In the south, it’s 4.01 in the west, $ 3.97, and kids here in the Midwest (which includes Iowa) get watered, at just $ 3.71 per tooth. Dear !
So is four dollars a tooth fair? Or too much? Another recent survey interviewed more than 7,500 people. And 53% said that between $ 1 and $ 5 rings true. 11% said less than $ 1 per tooth, 3% said more than $ 20, and about 1 in 7 Americans think kids should get NOTHING from Tooth Fairy. Fairy Scrooge McTooth, am I right?
How much do you usually give? Or sorry, your fairy tale. Hopefully at least the Midwestern average or your kids go on a dental strike.

Weirdest Free Stuff (Shit) on Craigslist Cedar Rapids
There are GREAT giveaways on Craigslist: pets that need to be around, law-breaking mowers that someone with mechanical skills can fix, and more. But for the goodies on Craigslist, there is a lot of trash. Oh so much junk.
