It starts again: we faint in front of the red carpet – or rather blue – arrivals. It’s like every week a new groundbreaking awards show is happening. Last week it was the Screen Actors Guild Awards and this week it’s the Independent Spirit Awards. While we always love watching award shows, we have a soft spot for red carpet fashion.

Founded in 1984, the Independent Spirit Awards – or Spirit Awards – are an awards show dedicated to independent filmmakers, actors and crew. This year, on March 6, they were held at the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California. This year many won big like Maggie Gyllenhaal’s first film The lost girl won acclaimed ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best Director’ and even ‘Best Screenplay’ awards. Along with that, Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally hilariously hosted the entire show – and at one point knocked Putin down.

With any awards show, there’s bound to be a plethora of bold, sparkly dresses for dapper suits — and this show didn’t disappoint.
