Gabrielle admits falling for Colin Firth | Entertainment
Gabrielle “fell in love” with Colin Firth after writing a song for “Bridget Jones’s Diary”.
The 51-year-old singer recorded ‘Out of Reach’ for the film’s soundtrack and admitted that she felt inspired as soon as she read the novel by Helen Fielding – which the film is based on – while on holiday.
She told Closer magazine, “I just remember falling in love with the characters and literally wrote the song in one day.
“In my head, Colin Firth was my boyfriend. I’m in love with Mr. Darcy, so never let me meet him because I will run away in embarrassment.
Gabrielle is very proud of her association with the film as she is a “huge” fan.
She said: “I’m still a huge fan of ‘Bridget Jones’ and every time it’s on I have to stop what I’m doing and watch it.
“It’s an iconic film and I’m still in love with it.”
The ‘Rise Again’ singer has grown more confident as she gets older and doesn’t worry about aging.
She added: “I think, as women, we become ours when we come to [this age]. I remember turning 40 and loving every minute of it.
“Some women have seizures when they’re 40 or 50, but I’ve never experienced any of those things. When I turned 50, I was just glad I arrived. “
Although Gabrielle is currently single, she has no interest in using dating apps to find love.
She explained, “I wouldn’t want to try dating apps – I would be scared and I find that a little scary.
“I’m old fashioned and I think when you meet someone through a friend they’re less likely to be a psychopath.
“I like the idea of it being organic, like meeting friends.”
