EastEnders, Corrie and Emmerdale stars and their not famous partners
We always hear about the celebrity couples who met on set, fell in love, and lived happily ever after in a huge mansion with tons of cash – until their high-profile divorce, of course.
Superstar couples like David Beckham and Posh Spice are iconic, but what about stars who have ended up marrying more “ordinary” people – those who live far from the TV screen?
You might not have realized it, but a lot of the stars of some of our favorite shows like EastEnders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale are adored by people like us.
Daily Star took a look at some of them and their other halves.
The Sonia Fowler star has been with EastEnders cameraman Marc Humphreys since 2014, and the couple got engaged in 2015.
The actress, 37, has been playing her famous role of Sonia since 1993 and turned her talents to the horror genre on the BBC sitcom Two Psychoville.
She even graced our screens in the seventh series of Strictly Come Dancing and the ninth series of Celebrity Big Brother.
And the star normally keeps her love life out of the spotlight, but she posts the odd cute pic of herself and her “soul mate” on Instagram.
In one of her cute couple snaps, she captioned the post, “It doesn’t matter what happens as long as we are each other.
“And yes. My nose is pretty big. #Soulmates #laughteristhebestmedicine #kidsareinbed #peaceatlast.”
Natalie also ran the London Marathon in 2019 with some of her EastEndners co-stars for a dementia campaign, in honor of iconic Barbara Windsor.
The couple now have two daughters together – named Eliza and Joanie.
Gail Platt has had her fair share of questionable men during her years on her BBC street.
Helen has played her brilliant role in Gail’s EastEnders since 1974, and in 2014 she received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the British Soap Awards.
But aside from Gail Platt, it seems her actual romance is the real deal, as it has been eight years since the Corrie actress married Deputy Director Trevor Dawson in 2013.
Trevor is a music teacher in London – and the duo seem to have been loved since!
The Stacey Slater actress won 30 awards for her role in EastEnders, which she first reprized in 2004 – including four National Television Awards and 10 British Soap Awards.
Lacey met Matt Kay when they were just teenagers, and they were in love with their childhood from the start, but unlike Lacey, Matt is not in the entertainment industry.
The couple got married in the sun – as they shared a private ceremony in Ibiza in September 2017.
Last year, The sun reported that Matt owned a barber shop called Overgrown in London.
While that may still be the case, his Instagram suggests that he has also started his own food business.
But Matt’s non-celebrity status hasn’t stopped Lacey, 33, from staying with him, and the now-married couple have two children together – Dusty and Trilby.
This legendary 72-year-old Corrie star is married to Jane Neilson, a specialist teacher.
And it’s actually because of his ordinary job that Roy Cropper’s character has stayed on Corrie for so long.
David said The mirror: “Roy was a psychopath. He was stalking Deirdre and was a little scary. It’s good to play psychopaths but they don’t stay too long.
“My wife is a specialist teacher and she has worked with people with autism. She said Roy could have Asperger’s syndrome, making him socially inept rather than threatening.
“No one really knew what Asperger’s was in 1995, so I owe it to my wife.”
He continued, “It was never mentioned in the story and it shouldn’t be – Roy is a human being, and a label doesn’t help him. But I think he figured it out. It gives him the reasons for his behavior and gives me something to play with.
“I like the peculiarities of people and Roy is full of them.”
David is famous for playing Roy on the ITV soap opera from 1995 onwards, but he also had his fair share of “regular” jobs including bartending and even ice cream vendor.
Eden might only have been six when she joined the cast of Emmerdale, but Belle Dingle has grown up now … and adored too!
The 23-year-old actress has been with her boyfriend, Ed, since 2016.
As she continued to pursue her acting career, she stayed by her boyfriend’s side – attending her graduation and traveling the world together.
And if there’s anything cuter than young love, it’s genuine love, too.
