Dame Helen Mirren wants to become first ‘James Bond’ villainous woman in classic spy franchise history
Dame Helen Mirren wants to play a “James Bond” villain.
The 75-year-old actress took to the bosses of 007 to make her the first evil woman in the history of the iconic spy franchise.
Helen – who was cast as the villainous Hespera in the upcoming DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods ‘- told Access Hollywood:’ I haven’t played the main villain often.
“When they were doing James Bond, I was like, ‘Why don’t they have a fabulous villain?’ All the bad guys were still male and I was like, “Come on guys… have a super bad girl female.”
“And they never did that. And I bet they do for the next one now.”
The Oscar winner is thrilled to represent Hespera as he is the first true villain she played in her illustrious acting career.
Helen said: “I haven’t played a lot of villains. I think ‘Shazam’ could be the first one I’ve played.”
She also stars in the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise as Magdalene ‘Queenie’ Shaw and was thrilled to have the chance to get behind the wheel for a scene with Vin Diesel in the upcoming ‘F9’ movie.
Helen said: “I finally did, yeah! And what a car! And what a ride, down the Mall in London! It was the coolest thing ever.
“But with Vin next to (me)! Driving it, I mean, it was fantastic! And I really know how to do a double clutch. It was a dream. It was fantastic.”
It was speculated that “F9” could send the series into orbit, but Helen confessed that the idea of going into space is “terrifying.”
The ‘The Queen’ actress said, “I find space terrifying. The thought of space and even going to the moon, not at all. I find the idea so scary.
“I am very happy with Earth. And besides, we know so little about the natural world around us here on Earth, including our own bodies and the very depth of the human brain, that there is so much things to study and explore in what we have around us that I don’t feel the need to go to Mars, you know. “
