Kameruka Cricket Club will host a return to a day of pink stumps in support of the Glenn McGrath Foundation on Saturday February 19. Held at the historic Lord’s View Oval, the day will feature a women’s T20 clash with teams made up largely of players from the Kameruka region who will hit the crease in pink finery. The women’s clash will take place on the lawn from 9 a.m. Then. The club’s Grade B men’s team will also take on the nickname Pink Cockatoos for their scheduled clash with Mallacoota at 1pm. One of the day’s sponsors, Helen McHugh, will also be hosting a special pink stump tea party after the day’s women’s game. “We haven’t been able to have it for a few years so we wanted to relaunch it as we’ve always had great success in the past,” said a spokeswoman for the day. “As we couldn’t have a women’s team in this year’s competition, we still wanted to have a chance to play cricket and maintain interest in hopes of fielding a team next year.” The spokeswoman said supporting people with breast cancer was also a hugely worthy cause and the club were delighted to do their part to support the efforts of the McGrath Foundation. The McGrath Foundation is key to ensuring that regions have breast care nurses who can help educate people and provide support for people with breast cancer. The club will have canteen and bar facilities throughout the day and everyone is welcome. Organizers are encouraging a donation of gold coins upon arrival with donation boxes placed around the floor with all proceeds going to the McGrath Foundation. Specialized Pink Stumps gear, including hats and other merchandise, will also be available on the day.
