Chattanooga area weekend festivals spotlight arts, food and veterans

Eat a pickle. Pet a llama. Thank a veteran.
If any of these are on your weekend wishlist, there’s a festival for you.
The themes run the gamut. You can find a community arts celebration in Chattanooga, a Veterans Day parade in Fort Oglethorpe, and a nod to history in Soddy-Daisy. Plus, the wide array of Christmas-themed events shows the holiday season is just around the corner.

– Beginagin Farm Arts and Crafts Festival: 391 Chloe Drive, LaFayette, Georgia. Arts and crafts vendors and demonstrations, live music, animals, food, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. – Tribute to those who serve the parade and the festival: Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. – Pioneer Day: Poe’s Tavern Historic Park, 9817 Dayton Pike, Soddy-Daisy. The historic Soddy, Daisy & Montlake association hosts an annual celebration of old habits, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Includes demonstrations of basket making, quilting, blacksmithing, open fire cooking, corn husking, log cutting, apple cider press (circa 1877), display of old guns and camps of the war of independence and the civil war.
