Broadband provider Wildanet expands team as £ 50million gigabit rollout accelerates

Cornwall-based broadband provider Wildanet has expanded its team as the rollout of the £ 50million gigabit to rural communities accelerates.
Founded in 2017 to provide super-fast and reliable broadband to communities in Cornwall, Wildanet secured a £ 50million investment from the Gresham House British Strategic Investment Infrastructure Fund in December of last year.
As the rollout of its Gigabit-enabled fiber and wireless network accelerates, the company has announced a series of board and management appointments aimed at strengthening its ambition to be the supplier of choice in rural areas.
Eddie Minshull, who has over 30 years of leadership in the telecommunications and technology industries, has joined Wildanet’s board of directors as chairman. Eddie has held leadership positions in Europe, North America, Africa and the Middle East at MLL Telecom, Juniper Networks and Alcatel, and has extensive experience in hybrid fiber and wireless telecommunications networks.
Helen Wylde joins Wildanet’s board of directors as a non-executive director. Helen’s experience includes senior sales and marketing positions at Vodafone, O2 and T-Mobile.
She specializes in helping businesses generate growth and innovation and received the 2019 Women Business Leaders Award for Technology and Digital. Helen’s current role is Managing Director of East Coast Trains.
Justin Clark joined Wildanet as Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of JT Global (Jersey Telecom), where he was responsible for global operations at the company’s London and Chicago offices. Justin’s career spans IT and Telecommunications, with a focus on operational efficiency and improving the customer experience.
Stafford Hunt, current Business Development Manager at Jersey Telecom, will soon join Wildanet as Marketing Director. Stafford has extensive technology experience having worked for world class organizations including Exodus Communication, Cable & Wireless, SunGard Availability Services, T-Systems and Dimension Data.

Ian Calvert, CEO of Wildanet who started the company four years ago, takes on the new role of Founder and Vice President to focus on his passion for delivering Wildanet’s digital inclusion program to rural Cornwall communities .
Ian’s day-to-day operational duties will be taken on by Justin Clark, pending the departure of a new CEO in March next year who has already been appointed but not yet appointed. Wildanet will also soon appoint a sales manager.
