Bridget Jones star Renee Zellweger looks unrecognizable in her head-to-toe costume for her new role
Bridget Jones star Renee Zellweger put two rocks on for her film roles but has since opted for a “big suit”, leaving her unrecognizable for fans to immerse themselves in her new persona.
Actress Renée Zellweger took her ‘unrecognizable’ character transformation for her latest role in the crime drama as a ‘big compliment’.
The Bridget Jones actress appeared in a ‘head-to-toe costume’ in promotional photos for her new NBC crime series The Thing About Pam as she wore a ‘fat suit’ and prosthetics to play the character incumbent.
The 52-year-old two-time Oscar winner told Vanity Fair it was “a big compliment” to hear that so many people couldn’t even believe it was her after the character transformation.
She told the publication, “Oh my god, if you don’t recognize an actor or actress in a performance, that’s a big compliment,” Renee gushed.
She added that being unrecognizable would allow viewers to not be distracted by her star status and go down in history.
She continued, “You’re not trying to tell your own story,” she said.
Renee appears in a big blue shirt with baggy jeans and the same white snow boots she’s been seen with in recent photos on set.
And the character’s appearance is crucial to the story as she is able to evade suspicion with her unassuming clothes.
She added: ”She seems like she has a generous character, is caring and is a good friend,” Renée continued. “I guess that’s part of the deception, isn’t it?” Because you might assume that’s as far as it goes.”
Zellweger described her costume as “pretty much head to toe”.
Her face was transformed by prosthetics to give her a bigger jawline and bigger nose, and her hair was styled into a shiny blonde bob.
The series is based on the true story of Pam Hupp, who killed a disabled man in 2016.
She also pleaded not guilty to the murder of friend Betsy Farria, who was found stabbed 55 times in 2011.
Betsy’s husband Russell was originally charged with the murder, but was released from prison and awarded over £1million in compensation. We think Pam framed him for the crime.
The Bridget Jones actress modified her figure – piling on two stones to play Helen Fielding‘s diary-writing singleton, then rapidly lost weight afterwards.
Sharing a sneak peek from filming the two films she shared: “Can I just tell you my body is smitten as we finish one.
“He doesn’t know what happened because he thinks there must be a baby and there is no baptism.”
The Thing About Pam consists of 6 episodes, the first of which will debut March 8 on NBC.
